Summer 2010 Intersessions Cultural Programs
The Study of the culture of Italy helps the student to acquire a deep awareness of both the cultural unit and diversity of the people of Italy. Majors Themes of Italian Culture and though are presented in historical contexts and brought to life through guided tours and visits to churches, synagogues, museums, palaces as well as other significant sites to understand presentday Italy and France.
Onsite teaching in various Italian and French locations is a significant part of this course and is aimed at providing the student with the incomparable experience of studying important sites of artistic architectural and socially relevance. Students are encouraged to truly observe the sites through active participation and to discuss their impressions and reactions.
These are weeklong program offered in the intersessions between summer academic sessions. The four programs will take place in Versilia on the Northern Tuscan Coast, Sicily, The Italian and French Riviera and Florence.
In addition, the Versilia program during the first intersession can be integrated into a 7 week publishing program (two 3-week academic sessions + 1 intersession week) that will produce a travel guide book. Check out summer 09's publication based on southern Tuscany here.
